NOTTING HILL CARNIVAL 27 -29 August 2011
the carnival weekend at the
NOTTINGHILLARTS CLUB

SAT 27.08: Hotel Lobby Carnival warm-up
7pm-2am, free before 8pm, £6 before 11pm, £8 after

WITH
DECKS: DJ Cheapdate (pic) and Mikey Spider

It would be easy to fit three or four Notting Hill Arts Clubs inside the swankiest hotel atriums, and we don't serve Cristal champagne, so for us Hotel Lobby has a slightly different meaning to the way that Jay-Z and R Kelly refer to it in the track 'Fiesta' ('After the party it's the hotel lobby and After the Belve' then it's probably Cris'), though it's still all about the party vibe.

Come join us at Hotel Lobby and we can even offer you floor service from the bar in our four lovely little leather-lined booths (which you can book at no charge, as there's no £1,000 minimum-spend nonsense in our part of W11). You never know who you're gonna meet in our Hotel Lobby...

The musical mystery tour with DJ Cheapdate and Mikey Spider travelling through the history of disco funk and acid soul, back to the birthplace of dance music, on a genre-jumping journey via classic & nu funk, Italo, Acid soul, guilty pleasures and deep into disco re-edit wonderland.

DJ Cheapdate (aka Cam Brott) has been hiding in the antipodes for the last four years, spoiling those south of the equator (especially Melbourne) with his eclectic blend of mix magic. But he's back in his spiritual DJ home of west London ready to unleash his own twisted edits, classics, guilty pleasures and forgotten gems on yo ass! Get down to Cheapdate. Because only the converstion's cheap. He comes in match fit having in recent times supported the likes of Todd Terje, Soulwax, Greg Wilson, Chris Baio (Vampire Weekend), and Mock 'n' Toof (DFA).

Mikey Spider is bad boy Geordie DJ supreme, and has been the resident party DJ at some of the best shindigs in town such as $OLD OUT $OHO, Ronnkie Pop and Sensible Sundays as well as regularly DJing at the Isle Of Wight festival.

SUN 28.08: Arts Club Carnival After Party

WITH
DECKS: DJ Smutlee (YoYo), Silky Boys (Pollinate) & Moroka (Secousse)
LIVE: Terri Walker (pic) and a secret surprise guest

Welcome to The Arts Club Carnival After Party 2011! Having been right on the doorstep of the Notting Hill Carnival for 15 years the Arts Club has seen some legendary Carnival parties - just ask Lily Allen, The Ragga Twins, Toddla T or Top Cat. Long after the sound systems have closed and the jerk vendors have run out of chicken the Arts Club and 200 lucky punters will still be dancing to the sounds of Carnival 2011.

So what have we got lined up for this year? As ever, the Carnival after party represents a range of styles that rock the Arts Club from Thursday to Saturday, from cutting-edge UK funky to tropical bass, soul and hip hop to dubstep and kwaito...Special Secret Guest: Trust us, she's special and we predict she will have one of the biggest tunes at this years Carnival!

Terri Walker has long been a favourite of the Arts Club, a UK soul diva who always stays on point and can take it to the best of the Americans. Terri is as relevant and charming as ever, having just finished an album in the US with Ski-Beatz on Roca-Fella Records, whilst collaborating with UK dancefloor monsters Donaeo and Mosca.

What a year for Smutlee! Remixes for Mad Decent, appearances on every major UK radio station and DJ sets all over the world. Smutlee deserves all this and more, and we can't think of a better person to blend UK Funky, bashment and hip hop for our Carnival crowd.

The driving force behind Pollinate Records, Silky Boys bring a new kind of party, blasting out future tribal bass from all corners of the world.

A veteran of our last two carnival parties with the Secousse soundsystem, Moroka plays a brilliant blend of South African kwaito house and UK funky. Look out for releases on the Pollinate label and many more DJ sets here with us.

Hundreds of thousands of people throng the streets for Carnival, and there's one thing on many people's minds as Carnival winds up: where can we go now? So it's best to plan ahead if you want to join in, as Carnival Sunday invariably sells out in advance.

MON 29.08: Tribe & Tambor Unite Carnival After Party
5pm-2am, £8 in advance via www.ticketweb.co.uk, more on the door

WITH
DECKS: Stan Zeff (Tambor, Atlanta) and Tyrone 'Mixologist' Francis (pic, NYC), Zepherin Saint, Matt L-S and Kristelle Morin (Tribe Records)

Following the much talked about Tribe carnival party last year, Tribe return to the Notting Hill Arts Club for another big celebration. This time we've reached out across the Atlantic to our close friends in Atlanta, Tambor!
Tambor is the #1 deep house event in Atlanta, winning awards for the best party in 2010. It only felt right for Tambor and Tribe to untie and throw a host of global parties. They start in London and then move on to Toronto the following weekend.

Tribe welcomes back the prodigal sons Stan Zeff and Tyrone 'Mixologist' Francis (New York), both born in the UK, for one of the highlights of this year's carnival.

Stan Zeff has been spinning for over 20 years, and both he and Zepherin were two of the original members of the Shock Sound System who played 12 years straight at the carnival to crowds of 2000+. This will be the first time they have played together since the infamous Shock disbanded, so this party is more than just a reunion!
Stan Zeff now resides in Atlanta Georgia, and aligns his music style to the London and New York house scene will take you on a musical journey merging soulful house, Afro-Cuban, classics and deep genres.

Tyrone Francis is a veteran of the house music scene. With his rightful 'Mixologist' alias, Tyrone is one of NYC's finest disc jockeys when it comes to technical skills and phenomenal mixes. Tyrone believes that sound is just as important as musical programming, so a party with the 'Mixologist' is one that fans everywhere anticipate.

The carnival is always full of amazing color, sights, sounds and we want to bring people together in London to celebrate the end of carnival in style with some great deep soulful afro house sounds, bringing the unique TRIBE flavor.

A quick glance at the numbers logging on to the Facebook event page will tell you how much interest this party has generated already, so best to get tickets very soon!
