Uk dance pioneers from the broken beat and drum and bass scene, Alex Phountzi from Bugz In The Attic and Koby One run thru their inspirations, past and future classics.

We also have Border Crossing, West London’s answer to Soul II Soul and Massive Attack. There's something about the area that lends itself to the mixing of cultures, particularly when it comes to music. The streets the Notting Hill Carnival parades marched through must have absorbed so much music over the years that the people who live in and around them grow up with rhythms coursing through their veins. Whether it was The Clash hymning the West-way and decrying alienation, or Aswad becoming the Lions of Ladbroke Grove, the area's music has always been about cultures intertwining and blending. So the fact that the hip hop-based but musically vast enterprise that is Border Crossing are another product of the area, should come as no surprise. Theirs is music that respects no artificially proscribed limit - music that acknowledges differences and celebrates them, rather than trying to blend diversity into the kind of dull grey pap we're increasingly being force-fed.
